Puycelci

Bastide Village #2, Puycelci is filled with exquisitely renovated second homes that sit empty and picturesque most of the year. Despite the number of foreign-owned homes here, there are sufficient year-round residents to warrant a village bakery, which according to our B&B hosts who recommended this driving tour, opened only in the last year.

Puycelci comes from the Latin “podialum coelhi” or plinth of heaven. Puy is often used to denote a hilltop, or even mountaintop (peak), location, and is a common prefix in place names in the south of France.
